Founded in 2014, the choir is formed of singers from around the East Midlands, and is completely unauditioned. They come from all walks of life; some musicians by day, but also a wide variety of backgrounds and experience. They meet on a project-by-project basis, and rehearse as often as is necessary to perform to a high standard, without the pressure of a weekly commitment. As such, there is no "home" for the choir, with rehearsals and concerts dotted around the region.
The choir is directed by Chris Foster, a music teacher and Leicester native, now based in Nottingham.

Some are of Mercia Chorale, others are of groups of singers where Mercians have been involved. Please get in touch if you have any issues with this and we'll rectify them.
"A truly awe-inspiring and goose-pimpling Sunday of uplifting choral music from a truly wonderful choir..."
Thanks to all the Mercians who risked catching a chill, prevented us from losing attached children on public transport, and got some odd looks whilst raising money on Nottingham's tram network recently! £134.59 raised.
Comments from our singing of the weekend's services in St Edmundsbury Cathedral:
"I'm sure that I speak for many in our Cathedral community who were truly touched by the beautiful music."
Thank you to the choir for all of their efforts, and to the talents of Mr Ben Giddens for surviving Britain's loftiest organ loft.
Our next concert! See you there?
